Helicopter Twirls Uncontrollably into Palm Trees at Popular Southern California Coast
A helicopter soaring above a crowded southern California coastline abruptly started spinning wildly, eventually descending rapidly and smashing into a line of palm fronds as spectators observed.
Recordings posted online show the chopper commencing to spiral above the beach then plunging towards the perimeter of the shore, where it becomes wedged among palm trees and a staircase adjacent to the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Details
The Huntington Beach fire department stated five persons were taken to hospital involving two who were in the aircraft and were “extracted safely from the crash site” subsequent to the incident on Saturday.
Three individuals on the pavement were harmed. Information on their wounds were not immediately available.
What led to the incident was not yet disclosed.
Planned Function
Officials said the chopper was linked to an annual “Cars with Copters” fundraising event scheduled for the following day.
