PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck twice late to take a surprise lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving crucial attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
